The cost of spam.
A recent report "Carbon Footprint of E-mail Spam" by McAfee noted that, in addition to all the other costs of spam, we shouldn't ignore the environmental impact. It suggested that the 62 trillion junk e-mails sent in 2008 wasted enough electricity to power 2.4 million U.S. homes for a year, with greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions equivalent to 3.1 million passenger cars.
